May M. May, 95, of Kearney died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010, at Mother Hull Home. May was born Nov. 18, 1914, in Seneca to Fred and June (Prideaux) Licking.

On June 22, 1936, she married Maurice F. May in Kearney. He died Nov. 14, 1972.

Survivors are: son, Maurice K. May and his wife, Jeanne, of Kearney; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren and a host of friends and relatives.

May was raised in the Seneca area, attended school in Seneca and graduated from Seneca High School in 1932. She and Maurice made their home in Fort Collins, Colo., until the end of World War II. They then returned to Kearney.

May worked for W.T. Grant and Young Moderns before getting a degree in elementary education from Kearney State College. She taught for several years in rural Buffalo County schools before entering the Kearney Public School system. She taught for 15 years at Emerson Elementary School before retiring in 1981.

May was a member of First United Methodist Church, First United Methodist Women, First United Methodist Circle 6 and Alpha Delta Kappa Honorary Sorority.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; daughters, Lois E. May and Luciene A. Larson; one great-grandson; one brother; and three sisters.
