Photograph of 610 N. Fowler taken from the road. Photo was taken for the Historic Resources Survey of Palestine, Texas 1989-1991. The modified L-plan house was a popular building in Palestine during the 11890s and 1900s. The historic resources survey catalogued almost 200 examples, but few retain their integrity to such a noteworthy degree as this 1-story frame house. The earliest known owner of this house was J.M. Henry, who conveyed the property to Arthur E. Claybourn in 1915. Mr. Claybourn and his wife Laura lived here through the mid-1930s; after her husband's death, Mrs. Claybourn continued to occupy the house through the 1940s. Mr. Claybourn had been an employee of the I&GN Railroad, and later was a conductor for Missouri Pacific.
