Elizabeth Swafford was the daughter of Martha (Goodwin) and Jeremiah Swafford. On 4/25/1830 she married Jonathan Larrance in Henry County, Indiana.
The History of Mercer County, 1882 says members of their families came to Mercer County in 1837.
Elizabeth's husband, Jonathan died on 9/26/1845 in Mercer County at the age of 39, leaving behind his wife and five young children; Louisa 14, Eleanor 12, Noah 11, Americus 3 & William 1. Daughter Mariah & son Oscar proceeded their father in death.
Elizabeth died the following year at the young age of 33. Little William dies in 1848 at about the age of 4. In the 1850 census their four living children; Louisa, Eleanor, Noah and Americus, are all living with Elizabeth's half sister; Lavina (Swafford) Ralston and her husband George. Sadly though, young Eleanor dies at the age of 18 in 1851, leaving only 3 of their 7 children to grow to adulthood. Even at that Louisa dies at age 41 and Noah at age 58. Only Americus lives to a "ripe old age" of 75.
