Son of John W & Mary Ann "Nancy" (Berry) Fix of Fairfield County, Ohio. Served his country during the Civil War, from October 29, 1861 to January 11, 1866 as a private in Company C, 46th Regiment Ohio Volunteer Infantry. He married Lydia J Ritchie in 1868, and they soon moved to Columbus, where they raised seven children. George was Columbus Fire Marshal.
