LEWIS HASCALL

The funeral will be held Jan. 9 for Lewis Arthur Hascall of Eugene, who died Jan. 5 of kidney failure, He was 78.

Hascall was born Oct. 17, 1916, in Pilot Rock to Arthur and Maggie Palmer Hascall. He and wife, Kathleen, were married in Albert Lea, Minn., on July 24, 1945.

He was a resident of Richfield, Wash., for seven years and graduated from high school in Pendleton. He served as a tank commander in World War II from 1941 to 1945.

He was a postal worker supervisor in maintenance for more than 12 years and also had worked in a sawmill.

Hascall sang with the Cascade Chorus.

In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Margarett Hogue and Patricia Keefer, both of Eugene; two sons, David of Eugene and Cecil of Pleasant Hill; a sister, Daphna Merkling of Pendleton; and 11 grandchildren.

Monday's funeral is at 1:30 p.m. at West Lawn Evergreen Funeral Home in Eugene.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Gilham Road Baptist Church in Eugene.
