Born in St Louis, Mr. Scharff, accompanied by his wife, came to Montgomery 23 years ago to take the position of manager of A. Nachman's specialty shop. The store, later sold to the Beringer Brothers, retained him in the same capacity until he and Mrs. Scharff, a buyer for A. Nachman, withdrew to open a children's shop on Dexter Avenue, which they operated until his retirement several years ago.
Surviving are his widow and one brother, Nathan Scharff, of Austin, Texas.
