The Rev. Allin was born Oct. 13, 1939, in Iuka, IL, the son of Roy T. and Goldie M. Jones Allin. He married Katherine L. Lukes on Jan. 8, 1982, in Quincy, IL.
She survives, along with two children, the Rev. Patricia L. (Tim Howe) Allin of Normal, IL and Lt. Col. Michael W. (Kathy) Allin of San Antonio, TX; and two stepchildren, Jennifer L. (Marc) Dawson of Palo Alto, CA and Heather K. (Josh) Blaha-Cooper of Chicago.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Charles Allin.
Upon graduation from seminary, the Rev. Allin served as a pastor in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, serving churches in Dixon, Wonder Lake, Harvel, Elmhurst, Campbell Hill and Quincy. He then became business manager and chaplain at Valley Hope Alcohol and Drug Treatment Center in Booneville, Mo. He later returned to the ministry with the Illinois Great Rivers Conference of the United Methodist Church, serving churches in Weldon and Princeville and retiring from Mossville in 2003.
After retirement, the Rev. Allin served interim pastorates at the Lewistown and Tiskilwa United Methodist Churches and then as interim at First Federated Church in Peoria. Most recently he has been serving as chaplain and bereavement counselor with VITAS Hospice Care.
He was a member and past president of the Lacon Country Club and a member of the OFL Golf League.
He enjoyed playing golf, traveling and organizing family events.
Inurnment will be in First Federated Church Columbarium.
