CORTLAND - Mitzi Palko Steh, 89, 369 N. High St., formerly of Hartford, died at 9:05 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 7, 2010, at Cortland Health Care Center.
Mitzi was born Jan. 29, 1921, in Farrell, Pa., the daughter of the late George T. and Helen Vilagi Palko.
She was a homemaker for many years.
Mitzi graduated from Farrell High School in 1941. During World War II she worked at The Carnegie-Illinois Steel Co. in Farrell.
She was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka-Holy Trinity in Sharon, Pa.
Her husband Joseph P. Steh, whom she married Nov. 22, 1945, died Sept. 28, 1991.
She is survived by two sons, Joseph (Linda) Steh of Hartford, and George (Diane) Steh of Kinsman; a daughter, Judith (James) Moore of Cortland; seven grandchildren, Mark Steh, Donna Crawford, Kimberly Bartholomew, Melinda Gibbs, Melissa Steh, Melanie Herman and Jennifer Brown; and 13 great-grandchildren, Mark, Cheyenne, Timothy, Savannah, Colton, Kara, Leah, Bethany, Andrew, Lauren, Aaron, Alex and Lucas.
Preceding her in death were two brothers, George Palko and Edward Palko; and four sisters, Helen Tatusko, Julia Ann Palko, Clara Puhala and Ethel M. Steh.
A funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Stanislaus Kostka-Holy Trinity in Sharon. The Rev. Stanley J. Swacha officiate.
At the family's request there will be no visitation, however friends are invited to attend the funeral Mass.
Burial will be in Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Cemetery, Hermitage, Pa.
