Era P. Good of Fall Creek died Oct. 21, 2005 of age-related causes. She was 94.

Good was born Era Pauline Hanes on April 27, 1911, in Hickman County, Tennessee, to Robert and Annie Puckett Hanes. She was the 2nd of 10 children; An older brother, Loy, died in infancy. She attended Shady Grove School in Tennessee, often riding a mule to school, a story she loved to tell. In addition to this, she helped her mother cook and keep house, and attempt to watch over 8 younger siblings: Robert, Mildred, Clyde, Mitchell, Bernard, twins Aubrey and Audrey, and the youngest, Edwin.

She married Glen Good on May 18, 1933, in Chicago. She moved from Chicago to Lowell, Oregon in 1935, settling in Fall Creek in 1938. Her and Glen raised turkeys, sheep, and cattle over the years on their Fall Creek acreage. She hosted Thanksgiving and Easter at her home nearly every year for almost 50 years for her children, her siblings, and their families.

Good enjoyed cooking for family gatherings, painting, gardening, canning, quilting and fishing. She also enjoyed hunting and shot her last elk when she was 91. Her and Glen kept a cabin for many years at the coast near Florence. They would take the Tennessee folk there when they visited in the summertime.

She was a charter, active member of Fall Creek Christian Church. She was a 63-year member of the Jasper Grange and had held every office except that of master. She also belonged to the Old Time Fiddlers Association.

Surviving are her children: son Alva ,and his wife, Shirley, of Jasper, and son Bill, and his wife, Mary, of Blachly.

Also surviving are her siblings: brother, Aubrey W. Hanes, of Springfield, and sister, Audrey E. Welch, of Junction City; 5 grandchildren; Danny, Kyle, Lesley Ann, John, and Bob; several great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Glen. Also preceding her in death were her parents, Robert and Annie Hanes, and 7 siblings: Loy M. Hanes, Robert Wilkes Hanes, Mildred Letitia Hanes Hassell, Clyde Puckett Hanes, Mitchell Eugene Hanes, Bernard Vestel Hanes, and Lucius Edwin Hanes.
