Joshua Ellsworth Fields, Sr., was born May 25, 1852 in Columbus, Ohio to Ezekiel and Zelphia Elizabeth (Jones) Fields. At age 74, he went to be with the Lord at his residence on Monday, May 31, 1926 in Columbus.

Joshua is survived by her, wife, Mary Alice (Patterson) Fields, three daughters, Nettie J. Lewis, A. Gertrude Washington, Myrtle A. Sheldon all of Columbus; five sons, Joshua E. Fields, Jr., Arthur Fields, both of Columbus, Ohio, William Fields of Chicago, Illinois, John F. Fields of Pueblo, Colorado, Ralph A. Fields of Brooklyn, New York; other relatives which includes a sister, Lenore Skelton; ten granddaughters, and seven grandsons.
