The Meyer Family by Henry Meyer 1890
George came to Penns Valley in 1827 locating along Pine Creek south of Aaronsburg where he purchased a grist mill & a farm. He was a man of stout physical frame & great strength, but his build was inferior to his brothers Henry, John & Michael.
He was fond of chase. His place was recognized as headquarters for the sporting fraternity of the neighborhood.
George married his cousin Catherine Meyer. She was a small woman, very kind & was greatly esteemed by her friends & neighbors. There were 7 children 5 sons & 2 daughters.
