MILDRED G. SHIFFLETT, 100, of Smithsburg, died Thursday, July 24, 2008, at Embassy Care Center in Wilmington, Ill.

Born May 22, 1908, in Midvale, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Robert M. and Laura B. Diehl Ferguson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Elmer Shifflett, in 1994.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Emmanuel Chapel in Smithsburg.

She is survived by one son, James E. Shifflett of Wilmington; one granddaughter; four great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; grandnieces; grandnephews; great-grandnieces; and great-grandnephews.

Services will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. at J.L. Davis Funeral Home in Smithsburg. Pastor Stephen Wagoner will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery in Hagerstown.

Visitation will be Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
