There will be no formal service or visitation. Her remains will be cremated as per her request and laid to rest at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Davenport Lutheran Home. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home of Bettendorf is assisting the family with arrangements.
She was born May 23, 1921, in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Louis Chalmers and Verna Vesta (Brodie) Pearce. On October 10, 1942, she was united in marriage to Jack Hunt in New Orleans, Louisiana. He preceded her in death in 1980.
June worked in receiving department of the former Sears, Roebuck & Company in downtown Davenport for over 20 years.
She enjoyed writing letters and cards to her many friends and was an excellent cook. In earlier years, she was active in the school and sporting activities of her sons as they grew up.
June was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church of Bettendorf.
Those left to honor her memory include her son, Richard Hunt, of Bettendorf; her grandchildren, Sara Hunt and Steven Hunt Jr.; six great-grandchildren; special nieces, Susan Zirbes, of Bettendorf, and Linda Barker, of Tinley Park, Illinois; special nephew, Chuck Cruson, of Louisville, Kentucky; and very special friends, Deanna Timm, of Durant, Iowa, and Heidi Cruson, of Bettendorf.
In addition to her husband, June was preceded in death by her son, Steven Hunt, her sister, Louise Cruson, and her brother, Richard Pearce.
The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the Heartland Hospice and the staff of the Davenport Lutheran Home, especially Shelly, Carla, Teri and Melissa for the love and care shown to June and to her family.
