Born in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany, daughter of Henry and Mary Ann WALTERS, Julia came over with her sister Grace WALTERS. Julia married Antone STELZER on Nov 22, 1897 in Southold as his second wife. Her sister Grace married Martin STRASSER and is buried in the same plot in St Patrick's cemetery.
Julia's birthdate is from her obituary; the gravestone reports 1875.
Her daughter Frances Elizabeth SELTZER Peavey was born May 25, 1914 in Peconic and died Sept 21, 1986 in Coos Bay, OR. She married Alfred Chatlin PEAVEY on Nov 16, 1937 in NY and they had 5 children: Alfred Chatlin Jr, Richard F, Donald, Robert and Susan Christine FAIR. It is not known where she is buried.

Mrs Julia W Stelzer, 79, of Main Road, Peconic died at the Eastern Long Island Hospital on Saturday, May 11, 1957. She had been failing in health for some time.

Mrs Stelzer was the daughter of Henry and Mary Ann Walters and was born in Germany on July 11, 1877. She had been a resident of Peconic for about 60 years and was held in high esteem by her many friends.

Surviving are her husband, Anton Stelzer, two daughters, Mrs Lloyd Cogan of Southold and Mrs Alfred Peavey of Port Jefferson; three sons, George, Henry and Frank all of Peconic; two step-sons Lawrence of Southold and John of Mattituck; two brothers, Henry and Antone of Germany, 15 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Recitation of the Rosary was at the home of the deceased on Monday night. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning, May 14 with a Requiem Mass at St Patrick's RC Church, Rev CJ Baker celebrant.

Interment was in St Patrick's cemetery.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of DeFriest's Funeral Homes.

The sympathy of the entire community goes out to the Stelzer family in their hour of bereavement.
