G.C. Brown's Funeral Largely Attended. The funeral services of the late George C. Brown were conducted Thursday afternoon from the First M. E. church by Rev. J. H. Ball of the M. E. Church, South. There was a large attendance of friends and the floral tributes were especially beautiful. Interment was at Fairview cemetery. George Carl Brown was 72 years on the 28th day of May, 1913. Born in Germany in 1841, he came to this country in 1862. He was drafted in the army in 1863, but did not do any active service. After the Civil war, he came to Oswego, Kas., and was married there to Miss Maggie Smith in 1869. They had seven children of whom two sons were killed by railway accidents, and the following five are living: W. L. Brown and Mrs. J. E. Ward of Texline, Tex.; Mrs. P. A. Caldwell, Childress, Tex.; G. D. Brown of Los Angeles, Cal.; F. C. Brown of Trinidad, Colo.; also eight grandchildren of which three are here. He has one sister living in Germany, age 82. He was a great man to wander around. He went to Texas in about 1873 and to Colorado in 1878; to New Mexico in 1889; then back to Texas in 1885, and to Colorado in 1887; then to Kingfisher, Okla., in 1893; and to Shawnee in 1894, where he has resided 'till his death, with Mrs. Mary Brown, to whom he was married in 1893 at Kingfisher.
