Funeral Mass will be said at St. Mary's Catholic Church for Chris Forster,
life-long Salem resident who passed away at the home of his daughter where he
was visiting in California. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Mr. Forster was born 1-8-1892 near Salem and lived his entire life in this
vicinity where he was engaged in farming. He was married on 1-12-1910 to
Katherine Sabers at New Vienna, Iowa. They were the parents of 10 children,
nine of whom survive.
He is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Elmer (Lorraine) Kirby and Mrs.
William (Dorothy) Hershly, both of Rapid City, SD; Mrs. George (Mary Jane)
Arnold, Salem; Mrs. Ralph (La Von) Blindert, El Cajon, Calif.; and Mrs. James
(Beverly) Tieszen, Pico Rivera, Calif.; four sons, Harold and Dale of Salem,
SD; Marion of Sioux Falls, SD; and Walter, Santee, Calif.; eight sisters, Mrs.
Mary Hankins; Mrs. George (Gen) Liljedahl; Anna, Margaret and Helen Forster,
all of Salem; Mrs. Michael Brewster, Omaha; Mrs. George Taft, Houston, Texas;
and Mrs. William Hankins, Des Moines, Iowa; and six brothers, Anton, Joseph,
Bernard, and Dominic, all of Salem; John, Duluth, Minnesota; and Robert, Sioux
Falls, SD; 34 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Forster proceeded her husband in death on 1-18-1951.
