Edward J. Seavers, a former resident of Fairfield, died Tuesday, January 18th, at his home in Plymouth, Amador County, death being due to blood poisoning. He cut his face with a razor while shaving, and the wound became infected in some mysterious way, resulting fatally, after an illness of only a few days. The body was taken to Corning Thursday for interment, where he was born and reared and has relatives buried.
While residing here, Seavers was under sheriff, during which time he made many friends who will regret to hear of his untimely death. He was a nephew of Sheriff J.J. McDonald and leaves a wife and two [sic] small children. Deceased was a member of Solano Parlor, N.S.G.W, and of Suisun aerie, Fraternal Order of Eagles. Mr. Seavers and his family left here about a year ago and since that time they have resided at Plymouth.

The IOOM had charge of the services over the remains before shipping them to Corning, where they were interred. His death was a great shock to his many friends. He leaves a wife and one child to mourn his untimely end. The stores and all places of business were closed Friday out of respect to the deceased.
