Mr. Adams came to Missouri at a young age. His family settled in the Willow Springs area around 1931 where he attended the local schools. In September of 1941 he joined the U.S. Navy and proudly served his country until December of 1946. He received the American Area Campaign Medal, European African Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. On Nov. 17, 1947, Lester married Dorothy Simon at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Willow Springs. To this union two children were born. It was said by his family that Lester would bring Dorothy flowers everyday, and on the 17th day of every month, Lester would wish Dorothy a "Happy Anniversary." He enjoyed gardening and working outside at his home. However, Lester's greatest enjoyment was fishing.
