She was born May 14, 1924, in Meadowview, VA, to the late Ellis Kendrick and Cora Hope Kendrick. She lived in Erwin, TN, for several years before moving to Shady Valley in 1991 to live with her daughter.
Gerry was a member of the Shady Valley Presbyterian Church, having transferred her membership from Centenary United Methodist Church in Erwin.
She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed participating in activities with the Shady Valley Home Demonstration Club. She was a kind and caring person who treasured the friendship of many.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William M. Snodgrass, in 1990; her sister, Marie Giesler; and brothers, V.D. Kendrick and Marvin Kendrick.
Survivors: Daughters: Jeannie Taylor and husband, Norman, Margie Ellen Nelson and husband, Jimmy; Grandchildren: Donna Carver and Richard Wiley, Brian Vance, Angela Rininger and husband, Don, Heather Robinson and husband, Lynn; Great Grandchildren: Kimberly Spirio and husband, Brandon, Kailee Carver, Taylor Robinson, Ethan Robinson, Colton Rininger; Great-Great Grandson: Noah Carver; Several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, November 7, 2010, at 4:00 PM from the Shady Valley Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jack Stevens officiating.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 prior to the funeral service.
Burial will be in the Rock Springs Presbyterian Church cemetery in Meadowview, VA, on Monday at 11:00 a.m. Pallbearers will be Richard Righter, John Cole, John Shumate, Jess Wagner, Bert Snodgrass, Butch Snodgrass, Craig Kendrick and Rick Campbell. Honorary pallbearers will be Lynn Robinson, Don Rininger, Richard Wiley and W.E. Giesler.
The family would like to say a special thank you to the entire staff at Mountain City Care Center for the outstanding care given, and to Dr. Jim Shine for his kindness and compassion.
They would also like to thank Debbie Leslie and Elizabeth Garland for the many acts of kindness that were shown to Gerry during her illness.
