(Reuben's father)
Edward Roessler was born 13 January 1825 at Lancaster, Ohio. He was the son of Christian Rößler and Tortea Elizabeth Miller.
Mr. Roessler had determined to come west, and in the spring 1849 he removed to Shelby County, Ill, with his father's family, and bought 250 acres in Rose Township. He immediately began to cultivate the land, preparing to establish his home upon it. The latter part of the summer he returned to Fairfield County, and was there married, August 5, 1849, to Anna Stumpf. Mr. and Mrs. Roessler became the parents of twelve children.
(Reuben's mother)
Anna Metta STUMPF was born on 14 Feb 1831 in Langwedel bei Daverden, Hannover, GER. She died on 20 Feb 1914 in Shelbyville, IL. twilightsw.com/luhrs
I feel that REUBEN B. was their first child, Reuben Bernhart Roessler. I was able to get a tracing of "REUBEN B." from the headstone. A 1970 transcription by Ed Boedecker had these lines:
Sebben S. son of-- (-- means unreadable)
Died May 26, 1851
Aged 1 mo. 13 ds.
There are 3 headstone grouped by them selves including this one of REUBEN B., HENRIETTA STUMPF, and GEARHARDT STUMPF.
