ROCKDALE — Services for Elbert Brown, 88, of Rockdale will be 2 p.m. Friday at Forest Grove Christian Church in Forest Grove with the Rev. Andrew Pandofi and the Rev. Brandon Navarre officiating.

Burial will follow in Forest Grove Cemetery.

Mr. Brown died Tuesday, Nov. 2, in a Rockdale nursing home.

He was born on Dec. 28, 1921, to Hervey and Sophie Andrews Brown in Karnes City. He grew up in Pleasant Grove and lived most of his life in the Rockdale area. On Sept. 21, 1946, he married Rubye Ellen Spence in Georgetown. He retired from ALCOA as a security guard. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of Forest Grove Christian Church and of Rockdale VFW Post No. 6525. He was preceded in death by his wife.

Survivors include a son, Bert Brown of San Antonio; a brother, William H. Brown of Corpus Christi; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Forest Grove Cemetery Association, c/o Trina Edwards, P.O. Box 463, Lexington, TX 78947.

Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.
