Mary Annabelle Queen was born 27 November 1882 in Jackson County, North Carolina, the eldest daughter of William Alonzo Queen (1858-1920) and Mary Lavinia Price Queen (1860-1897). She married Christopher Columbus Black (1870-1944) on 26 April 1908 in Phoenix, AZ, and lived in Maricopa County for the remainder of her life. Sometime before 1930, they adopted two brothers as sons, Robert Ernest [Stowe] Black (1915-1990), FaG #78441658, and John Dwight [Stowe] Black (1917-2009), FaG #91183915, who were the eldest of four sons of Hiram Reuben Stowe (1888-1956) and Annabelle Fish Stowe (1890-1954). Her husband Chris died in December 1944, and Annabelle died from cancer on 26 September 1950 in Phoenix at the age of 67. They're buried together in Greenwood Memorial Park in Phoenix, AZ.

Mrs. Mary Annabelle Black, 67, a Phoenix resident 42 years, died Tuesday, September 26, 1950 at St. Monica's Hospital.
She was the widow of Christopher Black, pioneer Arizona rancher, and a member of Central Methodist Church.
Mrs. Black, who lived at 317 East Mulberry street, is survived by two sons, John and Robert Black, both of Phoenix; four sisters, Mrs. Ethel Minsch of Phoenix, Mrs. Cordelia Raines, Mrs. Susan Coward, and Mrs. Vena Lusk, of North and South Carolina; a brother, Robert Queen of North Carolina, and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 30th in Merryman Funeral Home chapel. Dr. Charles S. Kendall, pastor of Central Methodist Church, will officiate.
Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Phoenix.
