PEARL GOBEN, 44, DIES IN ACCIDENT

Pearl Goben, 44, of Lucas, was shot and killed Friday morning while climbing over a fence near his home.

Coroner William B. Dunshee said his death was accidental. Apparently his pants leg caught on barbed wire, causing his 12-gauge shotgun to discharge. The charge struck him below the heart and he apparently died instantly.

Members of the family said he had gone to a pasture to investigate dogs that were bothering his cattle and hogs.
