GEORGE F. GOBEN

George Fielden Goben, son of Jesse and Seneth Goben, was born Nov. 5, 1870, in Clarke county, Iowa, and passed away at his home in Lucas Feb. 7, 1961 at the age of 90 years, three months and two days.

Most of his life was spent in Lucas county. He accepted Christ when a young man.

On June 4, 1901, he was united in marriage to Ethel Wilson and to this union eight children were born: Walter, Pearl, George, Senith, Jesse, Malinda, Mildred and Myrtle. He also reared three grandchildren, Alvin, Carl and Maxine Goben.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Ethel, who passed away July 29, 1925, a son, Pearl, who passed away April 14, 1950, two brothers and three sisters.

He leaves to mourn his passing seven children: Walter of Derby, Jesse of Chariton, George of Mobridge, S. Dak., Malinda Logston of Dawson, Nebr., Mildred Law of Park Forest, Ill., Myrtle Hatfield of Van Wert and Senith at home, 30 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, a brother, Jim Goben of Lucas, and a number of nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

He will always be remembered as a loving husband and father.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Feb. 10, at the Lucas Presbyterian church. The Rev. A. E. Beals officiated. Interment was made in the Rose Hill cemetery near Lucas.
