The son of Charles Dixon II & Mary Corps. He was born in the parish of Kirklevington near the village of Yarm. At the age of 31 on June the 24th of 1763 he married his wife , Susannah Coates. Charles and his family would eventually leave their native England and settle in Nova Scotia in the year of 1772. He was a highly prominent figure in Nova Scotia. He owned a tract of 2500 acres of land which he had purchased for a mere $1,300 at that time and in which he had used for cattle & sheep. Charles served as a member of the legislature and served as Justice of the Peace. Charles Dixon was also responsible for starting a methodist movement within Nova Scotia. He had built & erected the 1st methodist church of it's kind in Nova Scotia. He had also erected a parsonage. During the period of the Revolutionary War , he had lost a considerable amount of his property from raids and faced other hardships and was forced to return to his native country of England. At the end of war , Charles and his family would return to Canada , this time settling in Sackville , New Brunswick. It was here that Charles continued his methodist mission where he along with pioneers of the community came together to erect the Sackville Methodist Church. He and his wife had a total of " 8 " children.
