KNUT BERG

Knut Berg, 81, retired Town of Liberty farmer, died Monday night at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Roland Wendling in Valders, with whom he had resided since disposing of his farm in 1950.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the West Valders Evangelical Lutheran Church. The Rev. A.B. Holland will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Berg was born in Valders, Norway, in 1870 and in 1890 came to the United States and married Miss Ingeborg Alfstad. They settled on the homestead farm south of Valders where he had lived except for four years spent on a farm north of Manitowoc. In 1940 the Bergs celebrated their golden wedding. Mrs. Berg died eight years ago.
Survivors are three sons, Gordon of Manitowoc, Sigward of Liberty and William of Milwaukee; eight daughters, Mrs. James McGarvie of Downers Grove, Ill., Mrs. Henry Milne of California, Mrs. Fred Sampe of Branch, Mrs. Orrin Torrison, Mrs. Raymond Johnston, Mrs. Roland Wendling, Mrs. Norman Lenz and Mrs. Elmer Dedering of Valders; 25 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. A brother in Norway also survives.
