Her parents were Denis and Maria Mahon Golden. Both parents were born in Ireland. She was educated in the Watseka Public school system and graduated from high school-a uncommon thing for women of her generation. Henry Nixon was in Watseka on a work assignment for the railroad and inquired of the 'ladies of the evening' if they new of any 'nice girls'. The Cronin Sisters introduced him to Julia Maude. They were married October 18th 1893 in the home of her parents. They moved to Chicago where Henry was the rail yard master. They lived at 8812 Eggelston Avenue. They were the parents of two sons George Gordon (John) and James Denis. Her husband died January 31, 1903. She and the children returned to her family home. In November 1904 she married William Templin. They became the parents of William Jr and Dorothy Marie (later Richardson). She was a talented organist and did a lot of crocheting. She was a member of St Edmunds Catholic Church. She had an Irish custom of setting an extra place at the table for Jesus and without fail someone always took the Lord's place at mealtimes. Julia was a diabetic before insulin was manufactured. The only thing she could do was carefully weigh everything she ate. She suffered from uterine fibroids and went to Chicago for hysterectomy where a "dishpan of tumors were removed". She developed a heart condition and died November 26, 1935 in the arms of her daughter-in-law Fannie Nixon
