Graveside rites were held here Friday at 2 p.m. for Mrs. Dorothy J. Crawford, 58, of Grand Island, the former Dorothy Shields Stoffel. Services were at 10 a.m. at the St. Mary's Cathedral in Grand Island. Mrs. Crawford died Wednesday of cancer in a Grand Island hospital.

She was born November 16, 1916 at Central City, the daughter of Thomas and Minnie Morton Shields. She was educated and grew up in the Central City area. For a number of years she lived with her family at Wolbach, where her father was a barber.

In 1933 she was married to Andrew Stoffel and they made their home on a farm near Wolbach utntil moving to California in 1939.

Mr. Stoffel died in 1946 while the couple was living in Casper, Wyoming.

In 1963 she married Raymond Crawford and they moved to Arkansas. A year ago she moved to Grand Island where she was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Survivors include a son, Joe Stoffel of Leigh; three daughters, Mrs. Bonnie Carr of Denver, Colorado, Mrs. John (Nina) Honore and Joyace Stoffel both of Grand Island; two sisters, Mrs. Dale (Marge) Richards of Denver, Colorado and Mrs. Peggy McMahon of Central City; six brothers, Donald, Tom, Jack, Dale, Dal and Bill Shields, all of California; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband.
