Joseph F. Adams, 79, Former Music Dealer, Dies in Springfield
Joseph F. Adams, 79, of Springfield, music dealer in Bloomington and for the last 22 years associated in the music business in Springfield, died in St. John's hospital there at 4:20 p.m. Thursday. He had been in failing health for a year. Death was caused by diabetes.
Mrs. Celia McBarnes, Holder, and Mrs. J.N. Baum, Bloomington, sisters of Mr. Adams, and his grandson, Frederick, were at his bedside when he died.
The body was brought here to the John A. Beck chapel where the funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Shiloh cemetery east of Heyworth.
Mr. Adams was born in Downs township, Feb. 19, 1852, a son of Wiyett and Charity Bishop Adams. He was the second of 10 children to reach old age. While in Bloomington Mr. Adams had his music store at 305 North Main street. He was a member of the First Methodist Episcopal church of Bloomington and at his death was a member of the Springfield Methodist church.
Surviving besides Mrs. McBarnes and Mrs. Baum are a brother, M.L. Adams of Downs, and two other sisters, Mrs. Emma Wamsley of Heyworth, and Mrs. Charles W. Romine of Downs.

Records indicate that Joseph Adams is buried at Shiloh Cemetery, but his headstone is either unreadable or no longer exists.
