Structural engineer who built gas holders and later became chairman of the Gas, Light and Coke Co, one of the largest suppliers of gas before nationalisation. He also built the gasholders at the gasworks end of the Oval Cricket ground. He had served as President of the Institution of Gas Engineers in 1896 and President of the British Commercial Gas Association in 1912, whilst also serving as President of the SBGI.
