Chester "Chet" Hazlett was perhaps one of the country's finest saxophone and clarinet players ever.
He played with the world-famous Paul Whiteman Band in the 1920s and 30s as well as many other of the great bands of the era of the Roaring Twenties and into that of The Great Depression.

There are many recordings available on the internet and YouTube that feature his talent on many performances, including such favorites as "Felix the Cat", "Paper Moon", and "My Blue Heaven".

To hear a selection played by the Paul Whiteman Band entitled "Happy Feet", wherein Mr. Hazlett is featured in a solo on his alto sax, click on this link:

He eventually retired from performing and for a time in his older years lived in Orange, Massachusetts, where I was honored to be one of the worst students he ever attempted to teach clarinet.

He died in April of 1974 in Turners Falls, Massachusetts, at the age of 82.
