After attending Converse College in Spartanburg, SC, she taught school in Gastonia, NC. She and her husband Harry moved to Winter Park. She was a long time member of Winter Park Presbyterian Church and served as the president of the Women of the Church. Jean was an involved community volunteer serving as president of Junior Service League of Winter Park, a member of the Junior League of Greater Orlando, president of the Winter Park Youth Center, Honorary Life member of the Women of the Church of Winter Park Presbyterian Church, Honorary member of Tri Delta sorority, Board Member of the Women's Residential and Counseling Center of Orlando, and a member of First Presbyterian Church of Orlando. She received the Converse College Community Service Award in 1998. Jean and Harry enjoyed traveling to Europe. Her greatest love was her children and grandchildren supporting their interests and activities.
