Lillie H. Edler, 96, of Mitchellville died Sunday, January 20, 2013 at the Mitchell Village Care Center.

Lillie Hilma Greiner was born March 20, 1916. She was the daughter of Edward and Hilma Greiner. She attended rural schools and graduated from St. Anthony High School. After high school, she was employed at Marshalltown Manufacturing.

On October 30, 1948, she married Arno P. Edler. She became an active farm wife. Later, she moved into Mitchellville and was employed at Look Magazine and then at Meredith Corporation. She retired in 1986. She moved to Mitchell Village Care Center in 2008 and remained there until her death. She enjoyed caring for her yard and flowers and cooking and baking for her family and friends. Many people enjoyed her Christmas goodies over the years! She was a member of the Mitchellville Christian Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Lillie is survived by her son, Allan Edler of Mitchellville; grandchildren, Mark Edler of Altoona, Teresa (Reed) Hiemstra of Newton, Paul (Deb Stoneburner) Edler of Johnston, Tonia (Dennis) Ackerman of Des Moines, Troy (Deena) Davis of State Center and Tracy (Annette) Davis of Rhodes; 14 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Edward Greiner.
