Word has been received of the death of Robert Mehaffey, 56, at his home in Chicago Friday morning, following a heart ailment and illness of pneumonia.
He is survived by his wife, Salome, and a brother, Brig. Gen. Joseph C. Mehaffey, now in Panama.
Mehaffey was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William R. Mehaffey, both buried in the family lot in Woodlawn cemetery. His father, who died in 1938 in Tryon, N.C., was for several years connected with O. B. Selfridge in the operation of the Lima Times-Democrat. His mother died in 1899.
He had continued in the newspaper business in Chicago, after leaving Lima several years ago.
The body will be cremated and returned to Lima for burial in the family lot.
