Daisy Grubb was a wealthy Lancaster woman who never married after her fiance died in a hunting accident. The youngest daughter of Clement Brooke and Mary Ann (Brooke) Grubb, Daisy inherited the family's Mount Hope estate that had been the center of the family's vast iron business. In 1895 she began to modernize the home, transforming it from a 12 room Federal style house into a 32 room Victorian mansion that is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Daisy was the last family member to reside at the estate, and people still frequently report seeing her in the mansion many years after her death!
