FAMILY NOTES
Peter(Bud) Gallagher was born on in or about 1889 in Grass Valley, Nevada, California, USA. Peter was placed in Mount St. Mary's Catholic Boarding School/Orphanage in Grass Valley, along with his sisters Josephine, Adele, and Mamie (Mary)when his mother Lucinda died in 1897. He is the son of James Francis Gallagher who claimed he was born in New Jersey April,1853 and died in Grass Valley, CA on January 20 1926. Peter's mother Lucinda Marie Cota was also born in Grass Valley, CA in 1863 and died in Gold Flat, CA. Lucinda's parents were (Narcisse)Nelson Cote and Marie Philomena Morris.

BIRTHDATE IN QUESTION: THR 1900 CENSUS WAS USED TO ASSUME THE BIRTHDATE FOR THE GALLAGHER CHILDREN. ALL OF THEM WERE ALL WRONG ACCORDING TO LATER DOCUMENTS FOR HIS SYBLINGS.

1ST MILITARY-ARMY
Peter Gallagher born in Grass Valley joined the Army November 05 1908 and was discharged February 27 1910.

2ND MILITARY--MERCHANT MARINES
According to family history, Peter joined the Merchant Marines. He was aboard the SS Joseph Cudahy in August 1918 when it was torpedoed and the ship sunk. He along with others were rescued about 700 miles from France by the Greek's. See attached piture and note on the back of the picture. There are numerous articles regarding the ship being sunk. The pictures were sent home or brought home by Peter.

No news of what ever happened to Peter. He supposedly came back to Grass Valley looking for his family. Unknown where he lived his life and death. Dearly loved by his sisters.
