Harriett Wardell, 81, of Springfield, died on Saturday, March 13, 2010, at the Menard Convalescent Center in Petersburg.

Harriett was born on July 8, 1928, in Menard County, the daughter of Ernest and Lillian Turner Tippett. She married Charles M. Wardell; he preceded her in death.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Richard and Wesley Tippett; and a sister, Dorothy Matthews.

She is survived by two sons, Charles Wardell and Robert (Nanette) Wardell, both of Springfield; one brother, Maurice (Peggy) Tippett of Chatham; and one sister, Dolores (Charles) Proctor of Springfield; and many nieces and nephews.

Cremation will be accorded by Ellinger-Kunz and Park Funeral Home and Cremation Service.

Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until the time of the Memorial Service at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 19, 2010, at Ellinger-Kunz & Park Funeral Home, 530 N. 5th St., Springfield, with Reverend Robert Tippett officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, Greater Illinois Chapter, 2921 Greenbriar Drive, Suite C, Springfield, IL 62704.
