Born to Chester Samuel and Ferne B. Murphy Huffman, William married Mary Howe on May 9, 1951, in Havana. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, James B. of Lincoln; and two grandchildren.

He was a mail carrier for 18 years.

He served in the Army for 24 years, retiring as a master sergeant in 1970. He was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Jackson Keene American Legion Post 496, both in Havana.

He was a member of Mason City United Methodist Church.

Burial will be in Walkers Grove Cemetery in Easton.
