He served in the Army for 24 years, retiring as a master sergeant in 1970. He was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Jackson Keene American Legion Post 496, both in Havana.
He was a member of Mason City United Methodist Church.
Burial will be in Walkers Grove Cemetery in Easton.
