Marlin Edward Bennetch, 80, of 117 Quaker Drive, formerly of Millbach Springs, passed away Saturday, October 23, 2010, at Saint Catherine Medical Center, Fountain Springs. He was born on Sunday, July 6, 1930, in Millbach Springs, a son of the late Marvin Bennetch and Effie (Bamberger) Bennetch. He was a graduate of the former Newmanstown High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a self-employed dairy farmer. He was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Schaefferstown. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Andrew Bennetch. He is survived by his wife, Nancy C. (Steinbach) Bennetch, to whom he was married for 53 years. He is also survived by a daughter, Margie A. Smeltz and her husband, Gary of Hegins; a son, William M. Bennetch and his wife, Donna of Millbach Springs; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Merle Sherman of Ocean Springs, Miss. Memorial services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Valley View, on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Curtis Zemencik officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the church. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Luke's Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 278, Schaefferstown, PA 17088; or Trinity Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 153, Valley View, PA 17983. Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, is in charge of arrangements.
