Shelby Williams - ELIZABETHTON

ELIZABETHTON — Shelby Eugene Williams, 73, 253 Ollie Collins Road, Elizabethton, TN, went home to be with his Lord, on Tuesday, October 26, 2010, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center following a brief illness.

He was the son of the late George Emmert and Beatrice Ellis Williams and was born in Carter County. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jerry Mack Williams and Glen Williams; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jack and Marie Bradshaw.

Mr. Williams was a 1956 graduate of Hampton High School and a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was a member of Beck Mountain Baptist Church and was retired from Nuclear Fuels in Erwin. He loved to fish and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Linda Fay Bradshaw Williams, of the home; two daughters, Nina Lynn Hyder and her husband, Tom, Sharon Rose Thomas and her husband, Kenneth, all of Elizabethton; four grandchildren, Cody Hyder, Beth Thomas, Shelley Hyder and Suzanne Thomas, all of Elizabethton; a sister, Carolyn Pate and her husband, Arvil, Johnson City; two brothers-in-law, Howard Bradshaw, Erwin, Rev. Cecil "Nick" Bradshaw, Elizabethton; two sisters-in-law, Doris Lovelace and Barbara Bradshaw, Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

The funeral service for Mr. Williams will be conducted on Thursday, October 28, 2010, at 7:00 PM at the Tetrick Funeral Home, Chapel of Peace, Elizabethton, with Rev. Ronnie Campbell and Rev. Cecil "Nick" Bradshaw officiating. Music will be under the direction of Rev. Craig Shelton and Beth Campbell.

The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5:00-7:00 PM on Thursday prior to the service and at the residence at other times.

The graveside service and interment will be conducted on Friday, October 29, 2010, at 11:00 AM in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be K.G. Shultz, Jordan Lovelace, Ben Broyles, Robert Bradshaw, Kenneth Thomas, Kenneth Davis and Lynn Estep. Honorary pallbearers will be Howard Bradshaw, Ray Davis, Thomas Hyder, Randy Powell, Faye Wilson, William Lovelace, Bernie Cole, Arvil Pate, J.C. Campbell and Danny Williams. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 AM on Friday to go in procession to the cemetery.
