Obituary: Chicago Heights Star - March 20, 1924

Mrs Susan Weishaar

One of the oldest residents of the city, and a veritable patriarchess, died at her home, 1663 Aberdeen Street, last Monday. Mrs Susan Weishaar was 81 years of age at the time of her demise, was the mother of thirteen children, the grandmother of 42 children and the great grandmother of 47.

She was born in Strassburg (Sauk Village), east of the city, May 4, 1842, and was the daughter of Mr and Mrs Peter Kloss, pioneer settlers, who came here early in the last century, and were contemporary with Adam Brown, from whom Brown's Corners derives the name. In 1859 she was married to John Weishaar, and more then 35 years ago they came to Chicago Heights to live. Mr Weishaar passed away several years ago. Thirteen children were born to them, eight of whom are still living. They are Joseph, John, Anthony, Mrs Minnie Lux, Mrs Rose Rich, Mrs John Richards, Mrs Charles Mayo, all of Chicago Heights, and Mrs Dale Schoonmaker, of Middlewater, Tex.

Mrs Weishaar is also survived by two brothers, Michael Kloss of Chicago Heights, Peter Kloss of Chicago and one sister, Mrs L Michael, also of Chicago. These, with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren, together with many friends, who knew Mrs Weishaar during her long and eventful life, mourn her death.

Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10 O'clock, in St Agnes Chruch, and internment will be in the village Cemetery at Strassburg.
