Iona Ware passed away in Roanoke, Virginia on Thursday, April 29, 2004 at the age of 79. She was the loving wife of Charles C. Ware, Sr. for 61 years and the beloved mother of Charles Ware, Jr. and his wife, Mary, Cheryl Kranz and her husband, Mark, and Debbie Dawson and her husband, Tim; the grandmother of Chip Ware, Colleen Schmidt, Caleb Dawson and Drew Kranz; the great grandmother of Renee and Stefanie Ware, and Max and Alexandra Schmidt.
She is also survived by one brother Chesley Walker, Jr. She will be remembered and greatly missed by many nieces, nephews, and wonderful friends. She will continue to live in our hearts.
Iona was the daughter of Chesley and Martha (Massie) Walker.
Iona was sister to:
1. James Edgar Walker
2. Chesley Calvin Walker, Jr.
Iona was half-sister to:
1. Arlene Wanetha Walker Meadows
2. Ardith Elaine Walker Bolen
3. Rosa Nell Walker
Iona married Charles Clifton Ware on December 2, 1942 and they were the parents of three children:
1. Charles Clifton Ware, Jr.
2. Iona Cheryl Ware Kranz
3. Debra Lynne Ware Dawson
