He fell down and immediately expired in his own cabin, while he was giving directions to one of his men, immediately after boarding his cutter The Hamilton. His father was a well known hat manufacturer in Boston. Numerous death and funeral notices can be found throughout the NE states down to Washington DC. The funeral notice in Evening Post, NY, NY 7/2/1850 pg 1 states his burial location is Mount Auburn Cemetery.
