Alexander settled with his wife Margaret Bailey and Family in what would become Southern Anderson County. He may have built the first house in the county. William died here in McBrayer 1831 and is believed to be buried somewhere on his Farm.
William Alexander is the first Revolutionary War Veteran to be Memorialized in Hebron Cemetery. His grave marker was set next to that of his grandson Richard Johnson Alexander, who lived his entire life in his grandfather's house in McBrayer.
