Marie Emelie Pelletier was born on June 25, 1882 to Chrysologue and Philomine (Fournier) Pelletier in what is today called the state of Montana. She was born on the family hunting trip. The family main home was in Canada in the province of Saskatchewan. The family surname was changed from Pelletier to Peltier in the 1800's.

Marie Emelie was called Mary Emily in her adult life. Mary was united in marriage in 1897 to Louis Lenoir. They made their home in Rolette County near Belcourt, North Dakota. They raised their family on the family farm. They had 15 children of which 5 died in infancy, Louis Pierre died at the age of 6 years and Genevieve died at about 12 years of age and 8 grew to adulthood.

Mary passed away at the home of her daughter, Mary Eva Wilkie in rural Belcourt, North Dakota on May 18, 1969.

Mary is survived by two daughters; Clemence Lenoir Laducer and Mary Eva Lenoir Delonais Wilkie; 4 sons, Robert Patrice Lenoir, Bernard Lenoir, Francois Lenoir and Gregoire Lenoir; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and other relatives.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Lenoir on January 22, 1943; 5 children in infancy; 2 children in childhood; adult children, son Michael Lenoir and daughter, Elizabeth Lenoir; her parents; several grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Belcourt, North Dakota. Interment was at St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery in Belcourt.
