He was born September 30, 1933, in Hoopeston, Illinois, a son of Hershel and Lena Karrick Miller. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, a sister and a grandchild. He married Johanna A. Goss on June 16, 1967 in Rantoul, Illinois. She survives.
Also surviving are 5 children, Sandra (Randall) Taylor, Richard G. (Denise) Miller Jr., Helen (John) Ellis, Cathy (Roger) Brubaker and Tammy (Bob) Aldridge, 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and 2 sisters, Frances Bond and Barbara (Earl) Caldwell.
He graduated from John Greer High School, Hoopeston, Illinois, in 1951. He worked at Jerry's IGA and retired after 18 years. He was also employed by Shields Auto Center for 9 years.
He served in the U.S. Air Force, retiring after 28 years.
