A native of Vermilion County, Illinois, she was a daughter of the late Hershel Floyd and Lena Alma Karrick Miller. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Earl Hascue Caldwell; two sons, John Earl and David Michael Caldwell; a sister, Betty Miller; and four brothers, Floyd, Donald, William, and Richard Miller.
Barbara was affectionately known as Momma, Grandma BJ, and Miss Barbara. She was a member of Fincher's Chapel United Methodist Church. She was a lifetime member of VFW Auxiliary, Royal Neighbors of America and a member of American Legion Auxiliary. She served as a Girl Scout leader for many years.
Barbara is survived by three daughters, Sue Jalm and her husband, Terry, of Jupiter, Florida; Cynthia Nichols and her husband, Therold, of Clyde; and Jean Caldwell of Clyde; son, Charles "Chuck" Caldwell and his wife, Christie, of King George, Virginia; sister, Frances Bond of Tilton, Illinois; six grandchildren, Kristin and Megan Jalm, Cameron and Chandler Caldwell, Kristen and Michael Nichols; and great-grandson, Liam Nichols.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 24, 2022 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend James Marsh officiating. Burial will follow at Fincher's Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
