Obituary from Wayne County Press, July 13, 1950:

"John Malone Dies at His Home in Cisne - Heart Attack Fatal to Well Known Wayne County Farmer, Was 90 Years Old.

"John Malone, one of Wayne county's oldest residents died at his home in Cisne Saturday morning following a heart attack.

"He had been in comparatively good health and had driven his own car uptown the day before. His age was 90 years, six months and 22 days.

"Funeral services were held at Bailey church Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock by Elder W.D. Crippin. Funeral was in the church cemetery.

"Life Sketch

"John, son of James and Elizabeth Withrow Malone, was born in Wayne county December 16, 1859. Much of his life has been spent in and near the vicinity of his birth.

"In 1905 he moved to Seward County, Kansas, where he engaged in wheat farming for about twenty years and was regarded in that area as one of the successful and substantial farmers. However in 1924 he returned to his native county and since 1929 has resided in Cisne. He was a good citizen and his many acts of kindness and helpfulness will long be remembered.

"Married 55 Years Ago

"He was united in marriage with Charlotte Anderson April 10, 1895. Five children were born to this union, one having died in infancy.

"He is survived by his faithful companion, one son, Merle, of Muncie, Indiana; three daughters, Carrie Myers, of Plains, Kansas, Gladys Hulbert, of Mt. Vernon and Agnes Dickey of Bethune, South Carolina; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren, two brothers, William of near Sims and George of Copeland, Kansas; three sisters, Mrs. Jane Henderson, of Sims, Mrs. Ella Warren of Wayne City and Mrs. Martha Bullard of near Cisne.

"Funeral services were conducted from the Bailey church, Tuesday afternoon at two o-clock by Elder W.D. Crippin. Interment was in the cemetery near the church."
