Roy Morrison Funeral Rites Here July 9th
Deceased was Native of Texas and Was Store Manager Here More Than 4 Years.
Funeral services for the late Roy Morrison were held at the Schroeder Chapel in Boone Sunday afternoon, July 9th, at 3:15 o'clock. The Rev. G. Harvey Sutton, pastor of Central Church of Christ, conducted the last rites.
Mrs. Frank Bostwick, soloist, sang three sacred numbers, "Sometime We'll Understand," "Beautiful Isle" and "In the Hour of Trial." She was accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Sutton.
Internment was made in Linwood Park Cemetery, west, the pallbearers being Joe Fleming of Jefferson, Pat Morrissey of Winterset, Lee Dorman, John Wright and George Hlavacek of Boone, and Willard Brooks of Ottumwa, Ia.
Mrs. Pat Morrissey of Winterset and Mrs. John Wright of Boone took charge of flowers sent to the bereaved family as an expression of sympathy from friends and relatives.
Life Sketch
Roy Page Morrison, son of Jean and Lucy Morrison, was born in Dalals(sic), Tex., Feb. 25, and died at age of 51 year, 4 months and 11 days, July 6, 1939, at the Iowa Methodist hospital, Des Moines, after a brief illness.
He was united in marriage to Elsie McMillen of Boone, October 4th, 1932 at Winterset, Ia.
Mr. Morrison was a store manager for over 10 years, 4 of which were spent in Boone and 6 1/2 years in Winterset. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, one son, Glen Morrison of Boone, two grandchildren and one half brother, Hugh Brooks of Ottumwa. One daughter preceded him in death.
