Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Maybelle Hockett Porter; three daughters, Mrs. T. A. Chestnut, Panama City, Fla., Mrs. Harry Harris, Philadelphia, Tenn., and Mrs. Robert Sandefur, Meadowview; two sons, James Porter, Batavia, N.Y., and Mayo E. Porter, Buffalo, N.Y.; a step-daughter, Mrs. Novella Perkins, Marion; two step-sons, James Stanfield, Meadowview, and Harold Stanfield, Detroit; two sisters, Mrs. J. M. Sage, Pulaski, and Mrs. John Jennings, Fries; 22 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
Services were held Saturday in Henderson Funeral Chapel, Saltville, with the Rev. C. C. Olinger, the Rev. Neal Wright and the Rev. James Wright officiating. Interment was in Mahaniam Cemetery.
